4 Ways to Make Summer Work for You

Working through the summer can be great – sunshine puts everyone in a better mood! But all that sun can make it hard to concentrate at work.

Fortunately, we've found four simple ways for you to boost your productivity, even during the summertime.

1. Get some vitamin D
Even a little bit of sunshine will boost your vitamin D and serotonin levels, improving your mood and concentration. Let the sunshine work to your advantage: eat your lunch outside, invite some co-workers out for a 5-minute stroll, or even organize team meetings at the closest picnic bench or park.

Bonus: You may also end up burning some lunchtime calories!

2.Stay hydrated
It's especially important to stay hydrated when it's warm out. Carry a reusable water bottle - you're more likely to take a sip if it's within your sight. Add some fresh fruit and herbs combos to infuse your taste buds - strawberry and cucumber, or blackberry and mint water!

Tip: To stay motivated, track your water intake on an app or have a friendly water drinking challenge with a colleague!

3. Take that vacation
Vacations come in all sizes. Even if you can’t go on a big tropical vacation, a day or weekend trip to the lake or beach will do your body and your mind some good. Hiring a photographer to capture your relaxing moment is a good idea as well.

The key is to actually take some vacation time off – and remember, "staycations" count, too!

By vacationing not only will you find yourself more focused and productive, you'll improve your mental health, boost your creativity and strengthen your relationships.

4.Disconnect
Let the sunshine, warm weather and soft summer breezes remind you how important it is to switch off your emails and messages. Decide when you need to shut your work life off, and then actually do it, even if it's just for a few hours a day.

Avoid constantly checking those emails - especially before you go to sleep. By clocking out, not only will you be more present to enjoy those summer memories, but you'll also be at work feeling more focused and efficient!
